Here is how to think about UTM coordinates in a practical way:
The “northing” reading is how many meters north of the equator you are.
The “easting” reading is how many meters east of the western boundary of the zone you are in
A GPS reading will be three
numbers:
What zone you are in.
Your “northing” position
Your “easting”
