When we lived in East Tennessee, almost every year, late in the summer, we liked to get "out West" somewhere to take a week-long backpack - or other wilderness adventure. Now that we live in Bozeman, it is more a matter of hopping in the car, driving a few minutes to a few hours, and taking off into the wilderness. We have made numerous trips to the Wind River Range in Wyoming, several trips to Alaska, memorable visits to Washington's Olympic Peninsula, the Sierras, the Beartooths, and the Weminuche of Colorado. We have done a lot more backpacking trips than are listed here. If there is some area in which you are particularly interested, let us know, and we may be able to provide some advice or guidance. We get requests all the time.

The following are extended trip reports. Click here for some "mini" trip reports.
